Being Creative When You Don’t Feel Like It
Creativity. The driving force that makes a change. It brings new concepts and ideas to come to life.
Most everyone goes through a slump now and again. We crave more out of our daily existence.
Using your own creativity can help bring you out of the most stubborn depressions.
From my own personal experience, I have found that one of the most powerful tools that I have is the power of my own creativity.
When we are at our lowest there is always the ability to dig deep and to become inspired to create some of our best work.
It can be a video, writing an article. It can be just making a project that we’ve always wanted to make. Painting, cooking, you name it.
When I look back at some of my greatest achievements I realize that it was during a time when I was very down. I didn’t know where to turn. I used my creativity to make something unique and special and to put out my own perspective in the world.
If you look around at many of the social media creators. Many started their projects during a harder time in their life.
Many people on YouTube started their channels because they were at their lowest point. They just started filming where they were at in their lives. How they honestly felt at that point in time.
If you happen to feel the need to create something during a more trying time. You are not alone. Some of the greatest creations were made from someone feeling helpless.
Creativity doesn’t wait for that perfect moment. It fashions its own perfect moments out of ordinary ones.” — Bruce Garrabrandt
The Myth that there will be a right time to create
The right time to create is NOW. Not when everything is right. Not when we have the right financial situation. Not when we have a picture-perfect setup.
That scenario will never come. When I sit down to write a blog post I really am never fully prepared for what is about to spring forth. I also do not always feel like writing. Most writers will tell you that feeling creative enough to sit down and write doesn’t happen naturally.
All you can do is just start. See where the words take you. Before you know it. You have several posts written. The key is to just sit down and start.
The joy of creativity.
Some of the greatest works of art and the greatest things that have been written have been done during a time when someone just felt stuck.
As you start to create you do feel as though your creative force starts to come alive You start to become more and more aware of this very powerful energy.
Your new project takes shape. It is amazing how you’re able to just pull that out of thin air from your very imagination.
Take A Chance it’ll be worth it.
Do something that makes you feel scared or uncomfortable. That is where the magic lies.
Those around you may tell you that you’re wasting your time, they may ask why are you doing this? The more that you feel at ease and comfortable with your creativity. The easier it will be just to continue no matter what input you receive.
Don’t let anything discourage you or frighten you away. We will think that no one would be able to relate to what we can share. There is always someone that will appreciate your effort.
We tend to believe that everything has been said and done. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Your unique voice and spin on things are what’s going to make it a true Masterpiece no matter what you do.
Creativity as therapy.
It is within everyone’s true nature to create no matter what. Most people are truly the happiest when they are creating something that they can give to the world. That is unique and of themselves.
Sit down and take the time to think of the things or hobbies that you would like to become more part of your life.
My mom was disabled and could not get around because she no longer had the use of her legs. She did make it a point to come up with projects that she could sit and do to keep herself going.
I remember she had taken aluminum cans. She had very sharp scissors and she would cut the aluminum cans into strips She would wear very thick gloves of course to handle the cans, Making these very sharp strips of aluminum, She would take a pencil and she would curl the strips of aluminum over the pencil. She would make these little Curly Q’s with these strips of aluminum.
My stepfather would ask her “What are you doing?” “Why are you doing this?” She would just sit there and create. As her project grew she decided that she was going to make Christmas wreaths out of the aluminum Curly Q’s. She would hot glue them to a wreath frame.
She would then paint all of the curly cues with spray paint. There would be red ones and green ones and silver ones. Once she was done, the finished product was really amazing.
Mind you. mom didn’t have any extra money. She just used her ingenuity. Turning what would have been just trash. Making it into something beautiful.
This is the power of creativity.
Look around you and see what you have. Do you have paints? Do you have a notebook? Do you have stories in your head that you’ve been always wanting to write? Do you have a cherished recipe that you would love to share?
The reason that you’re here is that you are a creative soul. You have immense wonderful and unique talents to share with the world. Never let anyone tell you that you don’t. I hope that you gain some inspiration from me sharing my story of watching my mother.
This world is all about creation, Get inspired and find your true voice. Add it to the mix because the world is desperately needing your unique view.
